Due to the recent acquisition of the Elston Hot Box Business, Proteus Equipment can now offer the full range of Elston hot boxes. We now control the entire Elston Hot Box supply operation. The takeover boosts Proteus’ hire fleet and sales range of propane-fueled Boxes to include Elston’s diesel, kerosene and new electric-powered Static and Mobile models.

Asphalt Hot Boxes are essentially large ovens for maintaining the heat of asphalt.

Proteus launched the first commercially built Hot Boxes in the UK back in 1985. These were mobile auger discharge units, for truck mounting.

In the early 1990’s Proteus developed the first Static Hot Boxes which enabled customers to have deliveries into their own yards and maintain the asphalt at the correct temperature for several days.

Later on in the 1990’s we developed our own comprehensive range of small Hot Boxes for truck mounting and trailed units.

Today these have been joined by larger 9 & 15 tonne capacity tipping Hot Boxes.

These Boxes have revolutionised the Hot Box market – they are cheaper and more reliable than the auger Boxes, yet are more popular with the operatives. Our simple rear hatches allow a fast yet controlled discharge, reducing the time it takes to get the job done.

No one has more experience of developing Hot Boxes than Proteus, and we are our own largest customers – we have a rental fleet of almost 100 Hot Boxes.
